How FTH Accelerates UK Telecoms Innovation

Explore our animated video series showcasing the pioneering work across FTH.

What is FTH?

FTH is a federation of four national research hubs – TITAN, CHEDDAR, HASC and JOINER – to drive the UK’s next generation telecoms capabilities. By translating cutting-edge research into real world outcomes, we’re delivering both public value and commercial opportunity.

Our work tackles some of the most pressing challenges across the telecoms ecosystem – spanning network-of-networks architectures and all spectrum connectivity to intelligent, cloud-native systems. Through access to a national scale testbed, we’re able to trial, scale, and validate innovations in live environments. This, combined with our initiatives in skills & training development, standardisation, and IP, accelerates the journey from research and development to both impact and commercialisation.

Ultimately, our work supports national priorities in innovation, resilience, and digital infrastructure – building a stronger, smarter telecoms future for the UK.

TITAN | Network of Networks (NoN) Solutions and Technologies

Focusing on emerging seamless, intelligent and resilient Network of Networks (NoN) solutions and technologies. TITAN also facilitates the governance structure for FTH – employing a dedicated team of Commercialisation, Standardisation and Marketing Directors to drive the translation and commercialisation of research. Led by Professor Harald Haas at the University of Cambridge.
